Mothers Legal Help provides free legal assistance where mothers already seek support.

For some mothers, a routine appointment with a Maternal and Child Health nurse may be one of the few opportunities they have to speak privately and seek help. Women experiencing family violence, coercive control or financial abuse are often closely monitored by a partner, making it difficult to contact a lawyer or attend an appointment. Accessing advice through a familiar health service can provide a safe and discreet pathway to support.

Mothers Legal Help is designed to provide free, confidential help to mums who might otherwise never be able to access it. Through partnerships with Maternal and Child Health services across Casey, Greater Dandenong and Cardinia, our lawyers are embedded within maternal health clinics, providing free and confidential legal assistance in places where mothers already feel safe and supported.

This approach allows us to reach women who may never walk through the door of a legal service. By bringing legal help into trusted community settings, we can identify issues earlier and provide support before problems become more complex.
