Employment laws should provide certainty and protection for workers, particularly those experiencing disadvantage or insecure work. In its submission to the Senate Education and Employment Committee, South East Monash Legal Service raised concerns about proposed workplace reforms and advocated for stronger safeguards around casual employment, job security, workplace rights enforcement and access to justice. The submission emphasises the need for clear employment protections, fair pathways to permanent work, and stronger support for vulnerable workers facing exploitation, discrimination and precarious employment.
