Young people are better supported through early intervention, education and community-based responses than through punitive justice measures. This submission calls for national youth justice reform, including raising the age of criminal responsibility, reducing the over-representation of First Nations children and other marginalised groups in the justice system, and expanding diversion and support programs that improve outcomes for young people.
